One of the top free-agent safeties and top Canadian players is on his way to the Big Apple.
Safety Jevon Holland has signed a three-year, $45-million deal with the New York Giants, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday.
According to the insiders, the deal includes a guaranteed $30.3 million.
Holland, 25, has established himself as one of the top safeties in the league over his four seasons playing with the Miami Dolphins. In 15 games last season, he tallied one forced fumble, one sack, 62 combined tackles and allowed only a 54.2 completion on passes defended.
The Coquitlam, B.C., native has five interceptions, five sacks, five forced fumbles and 301 tackles over his 60-game NFL career.
A product of Oregon, Holland was selected in the second round, 36th overall, by the Dolphins in the 2021 NFL Draft.
He now joins a depleted Giants secondary that had the second-least interceptions in the league last season with five, behind only the Cleveland Browns, with four. The G-Men also allowed the third-highest quarterback rating in the league at 103.1, and will hope Holland can stymie those issues in the secondary.
