‘Redefining skin resilience’ – Shiseido launches new Ultimune Power Infusing Serum
Coming to travel retail soon: The advanced formula is the fourth iteration of Shiseido Ultimune, strengthening skin’s innate defences and slowing its ageing cycle

Japanese prestige skincare brand Shiseido is this week unveiling its new Ultimune Power Infusing Serum, describing it as a breakthrough in skin immunity research built on more than 30 years of scientific innovation.

A global launch event is being hosted in Tokyo from 25 to 27 February. The Moodie Davitt Report will be there to bring you on-location coverage.

The Ultimune Power Infusing Serum, powered by Shiseido’s exclusive Power Fermented Camellia+ technology, is redefining skin resilience, Shiseido said.

The advanced formula – the fourth iteration of Shiseido Ultimune – strengthens skin’s innate defences and slows the skin ageing cycle (i.e. the negative spiral leading to fine lines and wrinkles from dryness). It is being launched progressively in travel retail from March.

That channel roll-out will begin with Japan, other Asia Pacific markets and Europe from March; and in travel retail Middle East from July.

Building on Shiseido’s longstanding research in skin immunity, The Ultimune Power Infusing Serum works at the cellular level to support 30 million skin cells, fortifying the skin’s natural defences and enhancing resilience over time.

At its core, the patented Power Fermented Camellia+ complex harnesses antioxidant-rich Camellia seed extract, bio-fermented through the traditional Japanese ki-koji process to amplify amino acids by 3.4x for superior skin defence.

The Fermented Camellia Seed Extract helps the skin’s immune cells eliminate old, damaged cells by increasing a protein called CXCL97. This protein attracts special immune cells known as Memory T cells, crucial for removing ageing cells from the skin, keeping it healthier and more youthful.

Besides representing a new generation of the popular Ultimune serum, the new formula is also the world’s first Memory T cell anti-ageing serum. The breakthrough formulation targets ageing’s root causes, reinforcing the skin’s moisture barrier to combat dryness and visible signs of ageing.

Empowering travellers’ skincare choices

Shiseido Travel Retail President & CEO Philippe Lesné commented: “Led by more than 150 years of Shiseido research and development, Shiseido continues to elevate the concept of Japanese beauty.

“As the expert in skin beauty in Asia, Shiseido Travel Retail understands evolving traveller desires for science-backed products with efficacy that enhance overall wellbeing.

“The brand-new Shiseido Ultimune is the result of Shiseido’s leadership in skin immunity research over the past three decades, uncovering how skin defends, regenerates and thrives. As we bring the world’s first Memory T cell anti-ageing formula to travel retail, we remain committed to delivering research-led skincare that empowers travellers to explore the world.”

The new formula, while retaining its signature rich-yet-dewy texture that absorbs effortlessly, also introduces Matsurika9, a natural ingredient known for its calming properties. Infused with a delicate green floral fragrance and natural essential oils, it is designed to enhance the skincare ritual into a moment of relaxation, in turn encouraging deep breaths that soothe the senses while reinforcing skin resilience.

The new Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Serum will be available in 100ml bottles in travel retail. Recognising the evolving skincare needs of travellers, Shiseido Travel Retail is also incorporating the new line into its traveller-exclusive offerings.

Proven efficacy

The new Ultimune Power Infusing Serum delivers proven results, according to Shiseido.

In consumer testing, 98% of users saw healthier, glowing skin after three days. After four weeks, 98% noticed a slowdown in skin ageing and after using one bottle 99% felt their skin had become resistant to ageing signs.

Clinical studies further validated its efficacy, showing an 11% slowdown in the skin ageing cycle, along with improvements in smoothness (+18%), firmness (+27%) and translucent glow (+19%) in eight weeks.

Since its debut in 2014, Shiseido Ultimune has undergone three renewals, won 25,217 global beauty awards and remains a bestseller in 88 countries and regions.

With longevity and slow-ageing trends shaping the future of beauty, Shiseido said the new expression reaffirms Ultimune leadership with a next-generation formula designed for modern skin resilience.

As part of the house’s commitment to sustainability, the new Ultimune emphasises respect for nature and minimising waste, with consideration for the ecosystems where ingredients are sourced.

As a result, almost every part of the camellia plant is used in the new line, from petals to leaves and seeds. Over 91% of the ingredients are of natural origin. ✈
