Porsche distributor Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) has announced the return of the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia, a sim racing competition that will take place over the next three months. The second instalment, which utilises the game RaceRoom Racing Experience this year, is open to Malaysians aged between ten to 25 years of age.
Online registrations are open starting today, March 20 and will run all the way until April 16. A total of three age categories have been made available – Junior Dreamers for ten- to 14-year-olds, Young Dreamers for 15- to 17-year-olds and Driven Dreamers for 18- to 25-year-olds.
Once registered, contestants will need to participate in a ten-minute qualifying round from April 12 to 20, using the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on Twin Ring Motegi. They can set their times either remotely at home or at any Porsche Centre nationwide (by appointment only). Those who qualify for Round 2 will then be entered into an in-person qualifying session at the following Porsche Centres, replete with personal coaching:
- Porsche Centre Ara Damansara – April 26 to 27
- Porsche Centre Johor Bahru – May 3 to 4
- Porsche Centre Penang – May 10 to 11
- Porsche Centre Sungai Besi – May 17 to 18
The top ten fastest drivers in each category from each Porsche Centre will duke it out by racing at the final qualifiers at Bangsar Shopping Centre from May 25 to 26. Only the top ten from each category will take part in the final sprint race at Sepang International Circuit on June 8, during the Malaysian leg of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia – where the same 911 GT3 Cup they will be driving will be racing for real.
Interested participants can sign up on the official Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia website.
