Pelican announce new LP on Run For Cover, tap Geoff Rickly for vinyl-only single

Chicago instru-metal greats Pelican have announced their first album in six years and first for Run For Cover, Flickering Resonance, due May 16 via their new label home. It’s also their first album with founding guitarist Laurent Schroeder-Lebec back in the band since 2009’s What We All Come to Need, and it was made with longtime collaborator Sanford Parker. First single “Cascading Crescent” finds the band’s heavy, riffy instrumental rock sounding as towering as ever, and this song is also coming out as a 7″ single featuring a vinyl-only version with vocals from Thursday’s Geoff Rickly on the B-side. Pelican are gearing up for a March tour with fellow Chicago post-metallers Russian Circles, and they’ve just announced a headlining tour with Austin’s Porcelain going down after that. The tour with Porcelain hits Brooklyn’s Meadows on July 20. Tickets on sale Friday (2/14). All dates below.
