Our 2025 Oscars Best Actor Prediction

This year's Academy Award race for Best Actor has been an exciting one, with really only two people I think having a chance to take home the top prize. Still, this race is tight enough that I could be totally wrong about that, making the night of the Academy Awards even more exciting. After going through all the data and vibes, I feel like I have a prediction. Let's dive into it. Who's Nominated for the 2025 Best Actor Oscar?I love the Academy Awards because they reward people who give movies their all. This year is no different. In the Best Actor race, we have five names of people who were in some of my favorite movies this year. Let's take a look at who's nominated. Adrien Brody, The Brutalist Brody has won before, for The Pianist. He's widely known as an actor who gives intense and committed performances. In this movie, he portrays an architect whose life and career are shaped by the changing tides of post-war America and by being an immigrant. He is considered the frontrunner in the race. Timothée Chalamet, A Complete Unknown Chalamet is a rising star. He was nominated for Call Me By Your Name but did not win. After taking home the SAG award, he's nipping on the heels of Brody. In this movie, he takes on the role of Bob Dylan during a pivotal period in the musician's career. Colman Domingo, Sing Sing To me, this is the most underrated performance of the year. Fresh off his nomination for Rustin, Domingo is back in the category. In Sing Sing, he portrays a man incarcerated at a maximum-security prison who finds expression through a theater program. Ralph Fiennes, Conclave Ralph Fiennes has received two previous Oscar nominations, Best Supporting Actor for Schindler's List (1993) and Best Actor for The English Patient (1996). He has never won. In Conclave, he plays a cardinal facing complex political and moral dilemmas as they attempt to elect a new Pope. Sebastian Stan, The Apprentice This is Stan's first nomination. He's a face that many people will recognize from Marvel. But this year he starred in this and A Different Man, which was also critically acclaimed. Stan's portrayal of a young Donald Trump is controversial, but the movie stands on its own as a gripping portrait. So, who's going to win? 2025 Academy Award For Best Actor PredictionI'll cut right to the chase, I think it's Chalamet. My main reasoning is that something like 10 out of the last 12 SAG winners also won the Oscar. I also think Chalamet has really campaigned well. The Bob Dylan role probably appealed to older Academy members who like his music and are impressed by Chalamet learning to play guitar and sing. Younger members love him because he's a star and represents the next generation of actors. I would have bet Brody but Chalamet's star keeps rising. He did SNL during the voting period and I think has better publicity on his side. As for the other guys, there's always a shot at an upset. I think Conclave could pick up a few things over the course of the night. But when it boils down to predicting a winner, I believe it's Chalamet's time to shine. Let me know what you think in the comments.
