Bryson Morris and Mark Wilkins have been stripped of their TCR class victory in the second round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at Sebring International Raceway as a result of a post-race penalty.
Morris and Wilkins narrowly beat Bryan Herta Autosport stablemates Harry Gottsacker and Mason Filippi in Friday’s two-hour contest, with Wilkins taking the No. 33 Hyundai Elantra N TCR across the line with a margin of 1.617 seconds.
However, IMSA officials confirmed in the hours after the race that it was discovered in post-race technical inspection that the No. 33 car’s refueling time was less than the permitted minimum of 52 seconds.
As a result, Morris and Wilkins were stripped of their victory and placed at the back of the TCR class, promoting Gottsacker and Filippi to first place instead.
The No. 93 Montreal Motorsports Group Honda Civic FL5 TCR of LP Montour and Karl Wittmer was moved up to second, while the HART pairing of Chad Gilsinger and Tyler Chambers completes the podium.
