NHL announces 2025 awards finalists schedule

With the competition for the NHL’s biggest prize already in progress, the league is set to start rolling out its individual honours.

The finalists for each award will be announced over the course of two weeks, starting with the Vezina Trophy on Monday, the league announced Friday.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, April 28

Vezina Trophy – awarded to “the goaltender adjudged to be the best at his position.”

Tuesday, April 29

James Norris Memorial Trophy – awarded to the defenceman “who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position.”

Wednesday, April 30

Ted Lindsay Award – presented to “the most outstanding player as voted by fellow members of the NHLPA.”

Thursday, May 1

Hart Memorial Trophy – awarded to “the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team.”

Friday, May 2

Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy – presented to “the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.”

Frank J. Selke Trophy – awarded to “the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.”

Jack Adams Award – presented to “the coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team’s success.”

Lady Byng Memorial Trophy – awarded to “the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”

Monday, May 5

Calder Memorial Trophy – awarded to “the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition.”

Monday, May 12

Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award – presented to “an individual who – through the game of hockey – has positively impacted his or her community, culture or society.”

The finalists for the Jim Gregory Manager of the Year Award will be announced following the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Only winners will be announced for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy and Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award.
