At Chery’s International Business Summit this year, the Chinese automaker teased what appears to be the next-generation Jaecoo J7. During a presentation by Zhang Guibing, president of Chery International, we can see the profile of the model in question under the Jaecoo logo and tagline ‘British Gentleman’ in a slide.

Curiously, the model depicted on stage looks very similar to a design study shown to us prior to the summit (photography wasn’t allowed during this session). In fact, we were presented with a survey that included two designs for the next J7 that had the internal codename T1EJ. The other option was rather Jeep-like, if you must know.

Seeing how the option that looks a lot like a Range Rover made it to the screen on stage, we are led to believe that this is the design direction for the next J7, although this is purely speculatory and the company is not confirming anything for now.

Current Jaecoo J7

Like the current J7, the model depicted on stage features prominent creases over the wheel arches and flush door handles. We also noticed a less sloping roofline and a completely revised front end, the latter with light bars (acting as daytime running lights) sandwiching the main headlamps. As for the rear, there are small taillight clusters that are visually connected by a trim piece.

It isn’t known when the next J7 will be introduced, but we reckon it will take some time because the current model, which was first introduced during Auto Shanghai 2023, is still rather fresh – it launched in Malaysia back in July 2024. As such, the final design of the next J7 could change moving forward, but if this is indeed an early look at the next J7, do you like what you see?
