Netflix has announced release plans for the second and final season of its adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed comic “The Sandman”.
A new 73-second ‘Date Announcement’ trailer has been released confirming the series will return in two parts. The first part will consist of six episodes and arrives on July 3rd. The second part, made up of five episodes, airs on July 24th.
The second season begins after Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge) has a fateful reunion with his family. He must now face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds.
To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters, and mortals. But the path to forgiveness is full of unexpected twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything.
The new season also stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Esmé Creed-Miles, Adrian Lester, Barry Sloane, Patton Oswalt, Vivienne Acheampong, Gwendoline Christie, Jenna Coleman, Ferdinand Kingsley, Stephen Fry, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Razane Jammal, Ruairi O’Connor, Freddie Fox, Clive Russell, Laurence O’Fuarain, Ann Skelly, Douglas Booth, Jack Gleeson, Indya Moore, and Steve Coogan.
The series launches in the wake of sexual assault and misconduct allegations against Gaiman, who executive produces the show alongside David S. Goyer. Gaiman has denied the allegations.
