Veteran NYC music photographers Ryan Muir and Ebru Yildiz (whose names are likely familiar to you if you’ve been reading BrooklynVegan for a while) have organized a new photo exhibit, Presence, featuring the music work of over 50 photographers. Here’s more about the show from them:

This exhibition brings together the perspectives of over 50 working artists, collaborators and in many cases, good friends. United under an energy of mutual support and creative encouragement and drawn from various musical and visual disciplines, we artists gather to celebrate a diverse range of influences that shape and inspire our work.

At a time where we almost always exclusively see each other’s work online, we especially feel it is especially important to get together in person and look at actual prints instead of our phone screens and celebrate the love and hard work that every one of us put into our work. As photographers, we exist mainly behind the scenes, our presence often minimized for the benefit of the bigger work: long nights under the dim glow of monitor screens and darkroom safe lights. This show is an opportunity to step forward, to acknowledge each other in community, and to honor both those who paved the way before us and those who will follow.

This is our ‘presence’
