A study by Heepsy analyzed all European capitals to identify the most romantic and photographable destinations for Valentine’s Day celebrations. Key factors considered included the number of Instagram hashtags, average annual visitors, average sunny hours per year, and the most Instagrammable spots within each city. The cities were ranked solely by their total hashtag count, while other factors provided context and insights into their popularity.

London stands at the peak of romantic destinations for V-Day with 167 million Instagram hashtags. The UK capital attracts 30 million annual visitors who find romance in its winter atmosphere, with iconic spots like #bigben.

Coming in second, Paris, or the City of Love, gathers 145 million hashtags. The online engagement is centered around the #eiffeltower, one of the most photographed landmarks worldwide. The French capital also leads in romantic tourism, with 50 million annual visitors.

Moscow ranks 3rd with 56 million hashtags, featuring Red Square (#redsquare) as its most shared location. The city enjoys 1,901 hours of sunshine annually – one of the highest among the top five capitals – providing ideal lighting for romantic winter strolls.

Berlin takes fourth place, featuring over 54 million hashtags. The German capital welcomes 12 million annual visitors seeking romantic winter moments, with many capturing memories at the historic #brandenburgertor.

Madrid stands fifth with 51 million hashtags, featuring the #royalpalace as its signature spot. The Spanish capital offers the most abundant yearly sunshine hours at 2,769, creating perfect lighting conditions for romantic photography.

Taking the sixth spot, Amsterdam gathers 37 million hashtags. Its canals (#amsterdamcanals) create intimate Valentine’s settings, with 8.8 million yearly visitors capturing romantic reflections on the water.

Bern stands seventh with 31 million hashtags. The Chapel Bridge (#kapellbrücke) provides a fairy-tale Valentine’s backdrop, drawing couples to its intimate medieval setting.

Securing the eighth position, Rome accumulates 30 million hashtags. With 2,473 sunny hours yearly – the second highest among ranked cities – and 38 million visitors, the eternal city creates romantic moments enhanced by views of the #colosseum.

In ninth place, Prague features 19 million hashtags. The Czech capital’s romantic atmosphere attracts 7 million annual visitors, with the #charlesbridge among its many romantic settings.

Vienna completes the top ten with 17 million hashtags. The Schönbrunn Palace (#schönbrunnpalace) opens its romantic gardens to 4.5 million yearly visitors, perfect for Valentine’s proposals.
