Mauricio Ruffy stuns with spinning knockout of ‘King’ Green at UFC 313
Mauricio Ruffy’s name will undoubtedly be mentioned in the 2025 Knockout of the Year conversation after his highlight-reel stoppage win at UFC 313.

Mauricio Ruffy’s name will undoubtedly be mentioned in the 2025 Knockout of the Year conversation after his highlight-reel stoppage win over Bobby “King” Green on the UFC 313 main card.
Ruffy improved to 3-0 in the UFC with a clean spinning wheel kick knockout of Green two minutes into the opening round of their lightweight bout.
According to the organization’s official records, it was the 16th wheel kick knockout in UFC history. Aesthetically, it was one of the best of its kind since Edson Barboza’s iconic 2012 knockout of Terry Etim.
Green, a 51-fight veteran who happens to also be a former opponent of Barboza, has now lost two in a row. He was left in a crumpled heap on the canvas at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as Ruffy began to celebrate.
Ruffy made a statement in his impressive debut by finishing Jamie Mullarkey via TKO at UFC 301, then pieced up the insanely durable James Llontop at UFC 309 in November, but this victory over Green shows he’s ready to begin facing ranked lightweights.
He called for a matchup with No. 9 contender Beneil Dariush after improving to 12-1 as a pro, however there are many compelling matchups available.
Ruffy is a member of the popular Fighting Nerds team that also boasts Jean Silva, Carlos Prates – both of whom are slated to compete at UFC 314 and were sitting cageside at UFC 313 watching their teammate – and Caio Borralho, all of whom are on serious hot streaks in the UFC currently.
Green is a respected, experienced fighter but hasn’t had a great run of success lately.
The 38-year-old has been finished in the opening round in three of his past four outings, including a 2023 knockout to Jalin Turner and a submission where he was choked unconscious by Paddy Pimblett last July.
