Jann Mardenborough will return to GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup as part of HRT Ford Performance’s Pro lineup, the team has revealed.

The British driver, whose rise to prominence through Nissan’s GT Academy was portrayed in the 2023 film Gran Turismo, will share the No. 64 Ford Mustang GT3 with Ford Performance factory driver Arjun Maini and Thomas Drouet.

It will mark Mardenborough’s first GTWC Europe appearance not racing for Team RJN, as his previous nine appearances in the series all came with the Bob Neville-led squad.

Mardenborough also made his series return with RJN last year, joining the squad’s Pro-Am lineup in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, but this year will mark his first full season in any series since his final SUPER GT campaign with Nissan in 2020.

“This is the start of an exciting new chapter,” said Mardenborough. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to race with HRT Ford Performance and to drive the Ford Mustang GT3 on some of the most iconic circuits in Europe.

“The past few years have been about growth and contribution in different ways, but nothing compares to being back behind the wheel full-time. I’m ready to give everything and show what we can achieve together.”

Alongside its Pro effort, HRT will also field a car, the No. 65 Mustang, in the Silver Cup for David Schumacher, Finn Wiebelhaus and Romain Andriolo.

Schumacher and Wiebelhaus are both part of the Ford factory stable, the former as a full factory driver and the latter as a junior for the Blue Oval.

HRT boss Ulrich Fritz said: “The GT World Challenge Europe is a highly competitive race series in which we have already celebrated a number of successes since the team was founded, including the 2023 championship in the Silver Cup sprint classification.

“We are now facing a new challenge with the Ford Mustang GT3, which we are happy to take on. We want to continue developing the car throughout the season. The GT World Challenge Europe is the ideal platform for this.

“The whole team is looking forward to the challenge with optimism.”
