USA. Avolta’s Journey For Good Foundation has donated over US$450,000 to 20 charitable organisations across the USA, the first of three grants planned for this year, targeting poverty alleviation.

Previously operated as HMSHost Foundation, the company’s charitable arm in the region seeks to address poverty through food, shelter, education and jobs.

As of last autumn, the foundation had awarded US$950,000 to 39 charities, bringing total contributions to almost US$1.5 million for 2024.

The foundation highlighted its commitment to helping vulnerable communities as they struggle through challenging circumstances.

Journey For Good Foundation President Paul Mamalian said, “This has been a difficult start to the year for many, especially those affected by the devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

“We are proud of the positive impact Journey For Good Foundation continues to make in so many communities across North America in collaboration with our charity partners who are on the front lines of serving the most vulnerable individuals and families, providing essential resources, opportunities and hope.

“Our work is made possible by the incredible commitment of Avolta team members and partners across North America, who work tirelessly to uplift their communities through sustainable practices, volunteerism and charitable giving.”

From hunger relief to providing shelter, the charity gives back to communities across North America where it operates, working to break the cycle of poverty at the local level

Aside from offering services such as feeding programmes, safe housing, job training and student support, the foundation also provides assistance to veterans and their families, including food, shelter, healthcare and employment opportunities.

The donations are supported by shoppers at Avolta’s Dufry, HMSHost and Hudson locations across USA and Canada, in addition to generous contributions from the company’s team members.

Travellers are also encouraged to round up their purchases at checkout by converting their spare change into meaningful contributions.

These charitable efforts create an impactful change, bringing a renewed sense of hope and dignity to individuals and families facing poverty and homelessness, the foundation noted.

Journey For Good Foundation Director Jordan Silverman said, “We are immensely grateful to the tens of thousands of travellers and Avolta team members who have shown their support by donating so far this year. Their generosity helps to transform the lives of individuals and families experiencing poverty and homelessness.

“We are proud to continue to make a positive impact through travel retail and travel food & beverage, and forge lasting connections with the communities we serve.” ✈
