Magdalena Bay wrapped up NYC run (Terminal 5 night 1 pics, video & setlist)
There were costume changes, keytar jams, and futuristic visuals to set the scene.
Having released the fantastic Imaginal Disk last year, Magdalena Bay are back out on the road supporting it now, and recently wrapped up a three-night run in NYC, with two shows at Terminal 5 bookending a DJ set at 99 Scott. In our list of the best albums of 2024, I wrote that Magdalena Bay were “here to usher pop into its next form in some looming space-age future,” and the show I went to, night one at Terminal 5, made a pretty convincing case for that too. They had the whole floor bouncing to their inventive electro-pop, which is cut with a little prog and a high concept backstory, and I saw a few people in blue face paint for the occasion.
The whole place really lit up for “Chaeri,” one of the highlights off 2021’s also-fantastic Mercurial World, and there were costume changes, keytar jams, and futuristic visuals to set the scene. See pictures, video, and the setlist from Wednesday night below.
