British tennis star Jacob Fearnley was among the players forced off court as play was suspended at the Madrid Open due to a power outage.

Spain’s public broadcaster RTVE said a major power outage hit several regions of the country at around 12.30pm local time.

In Portugal the outage hit the capital, Lisbon, and surrounding areas, as well as northern and southern parts of the country.

The outage forced the Madrid Open organisers to suspend play on Monday afternoon.
