A few months ago we reported about a status match opportunity for British Airways and Iberia Elite members to the Lufthansa Miles&More Program which is currently available for a 99.00 Euro fee.

The status match is available from corresponding BAEC Silver/Gold and Iberia Plus Oro/Platino/Infinita to Miles&More Frequent Traveller (Star Alliance Silver) or Senator (Star Alliance Gold) at a small fee.

This is one of the more useful and valuable status match offers as it’s usually quite difficult to obtain Lufthansa Status due to the high requirement for flying activity.

The nice thing about this match is that participation is now available globally, for residents of ALL countries:

Previously, it was geographically restricted, which no longer appears to be the case.

The Frequent Traveller doesn’t come with many Star Alliance benefits, but it does include lounge access when flying in economy for Lufthansa’s integrated airlines’ business lounges.

Senator is Star Alliance Gold, which includes business class check-in, an extra luggage allowance (not always on zero-bag fares), priority security, lounge access, and priority boarding on all alliance airlines.

You need to indicate your status with either British Airways or Iberia.

The form then requires you to upload proof of status and complete payment.

I didn’t proceed, at least not yet, as I already have Star Alliance Gold with Singapore Airlines this year.

Lufthansa Miles&More Elite Benefits:

The benefits for Senator members are vast and for Frequent Traveler members at least acceptable.

Conclusion

The Lufthansa Miles&More program is undergoing some changes that were announced recently, which I previously covered (read more here and here).

If you fly around Europe, escaping Lufthansa integrated airlines (Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings) is difficult, given the route network and all the carriers they have gobbled up.

This is an easy opportunity for Iberia and British Airways elite members to have their tier matched with Miles&More. I would try to get the Senator tier due to Star Alliance-wide benefits.

How long will the status be valid if my application for a Status Match is approved?

If your application is approved, you will receive the corresponding frequent flyer status in the Miles & More programme within 10 business days from approval.

During the registration process, we will also ask you for proof of your eligible frequent flyer status (e.g., a photo of your status card), and you may be requested to provide and complete an identity check, including your passport or driver’s licence.

You will be informed within three days after submitting the requested information, whether your status match has been approved. Once approved, it may take up to 10 business days until your frequent flyer status is upgraded in your Miles & More customer account.

After your frequent flyer status has been upgraded, you will receive an e-mail from Miles & More, containing information on how to make the most of your frequent flyer status with Miles & More.

Only 1 status match per person will be permitted under this campaign.

If your Miles & More account has received a match via StatusMatch.com service, it is not eligible for a match under this campaign.

If approved, the status match upgrade is valid until February 28, 2026 and extended by meeting the standard Miles & More status requalification terms.
