Lightning’s Anthony Cirelli active for Game 2

One of the Tampa Bay Lightning‘s most essential forwards is taking the ice in Thursday’s pivotal Game 2.

Anthony Cirelli, who was a game-time decision against the Florida Panthers after leaving Game 1 with an undisclosed injury, was officially listed as active shortly before puck drop, according to Lightning team reporter Benjamin Pierce.

The Lightning lost Game 1, 6-2.

Cirelli, 27, appeared to suffer the injury early in the second when he delivered a hit in the offensive zone. He headed straight to the team’s dressing room and returned to the ice later in the period, but did not come out for the final frame.

He played just 6:21 in the game and finished as a minus-2.

The Etobicoke, Ont., native recorded 27 goals and 32 assists in 80 games for the Lightning this season.
