Greetings from Shanghai, where Leapmotor has officially introduced its second all-electric B-series model, with the automaker taking the wraps off the B01 sedan at the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2025) earlier this morning.
The B01, which is built on the same LEAP 3.5 architecture that underpins the B10 SUV, measures in at 4,770 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,490 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm, which makes it longer and as wide as its SUV sibling. Compared to the segment-up C01, its other sedan on sale in China, the B01 is 280 mm shorter, 22 mm narrower and 25 mm lower, and its wheelbase is also 195 mm shorter.
Exterior design highlights include a front end styling that follows that seen on the B10 and C10, with a closed-off fascia and a slim light bar strip bridging the headlights. Likewise, the rear is similarly styled, with a horizontal light bar strip joining the rear light assemblies. Optional kit will include a panoramic glass roof.
Two single motor powertrain options will be available to buyers of the battery electric vehicle (BEV) in the domestic market, and these are similar in form and output to that found in the B10. The first is a 177 hp (179 PS, or 132 kW) and 175 Nm unit, while the second is a 215 hp (218 PS, or 160 kW) and 240 Nm example, both reportedly sourced from different manufacturers.
The 177 hp motor is juiced by a 56.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which provides the car with 510 km of travel on a single charge on CLTC standard measurements. This translates to about 420 km of WLTP-rated range. The more powerful 215 hp electric motor gets a higher capacity 67.1 kWh LFP unit, which on the sedan is claimed to offer up to 650 km of CLTC-rated range (550 km WLTP).
With an 800V electrical architecture, the B10 supports DC fast charging that can juice the battery from 30 to 80% state-of-charge in around 19 minutes for the 56.2 kWh unit, or 20 minutes for the 67.1 kWh pack. Via the AC route, it takes about 4.2 hours to charge the smaller battery from 30-80%, or 5.6 hours for the larger battery. Both LFP batteries come from CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery).
Similar to other Leapmotor offerings, the B01 features the automaker’s CTC 2.0 (Cell-to-Chassis) technology, which with its custom-designed low-profile battery cells offers not just additional cabin space but enhances structural integration and improves fast-charging efficiency.
Inside, the B01 features a cockpit similar to the B10. Novelties include an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch 2.5K high-definition touchscreen infotainment display, with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155 or 8295A chip, the latter with 30 TOPS of computing power, working a Leapmotor OS 4.0 Plus operating system.
While Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard, the B01 will come with an optional roof-mounted LiDAR system paired with an SA8650 chip in China. This enables highway and urban automatic navigation assistance features and intelligent driving capability.
The automaker said that the B01, which along with the B10 is aimed at a younger demographic, will begin selling in China with a price range of around 100,000 to 150,000 yuan (RM60,000 to RM90,000). Back in March, the company said that it is confident of selling more than 40,000 units of the B-series on a monthly basis.
