Kurtz Tops Opening Practice at Sonoma

George Kurtz led the way in the opening GT America powered by AWS practice session of the weekend at Sonoma Raceway.
The CrowdStrike by Riley driver reeled off a best lap of 1:36.013 in his No. 04 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to outpace the SRO3 class competition by nearly eight-tenths of a second.
The No. 80 Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Elias Sabo was second quickest with a 1:36.780, followed by Mirco Schultis’ No. 70 Callaway Corvette C7-R in third.
Ross Chouest was fourth in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, with Kyle Washington’s No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R completing the top-five.
GT4 was led by Anthony McIntosh in the No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2.
Thirteen of the 16 cars on the pre-event entry list set times in the 30-minute session, which ran without any reported incidents.
Blake McDonald in the No. 11 DXDT Corvette led the way in the Paid Bronze Test, which immediately preceded the opening GT America practice.
GT America Practice 2 is on tap for Friday at 9:15 a.m. PST.
