“Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are re-teaming for a new project that has sparked a bidding war according to THR.
Described as “All the President’s Men with UFOs,” the film appears to be some kind of conspiracy thriller reminiscent of early “The X-Files”.
Former United States Air Force officer David Grusch is reportedly acting as a consultant on the project. Grusch testified before U.S. Congress in 2023 that the government has been studying the spacecraft and bodies of aliens – all while suppressing leaks.
Amazon, Apple, Lionsgate, Paramount and Warner Bros. are among the studios vying for the project with the bidding escalating “quickly and aggressively”.
A budget for the film is unclear and there are no stars currently attached, but the team are seeking a greenlight for the project. Zach Baylin (“The Order,” “Creed III,” “King Richard”) penned the script.
“Tron: Legacy” and “Oblivion” director Kosinski’s next relesse is the Brad Pitt-led racing film “F1” at Apple and Warner Bros. which hits cinemas in June.
