We’re now less than two months away from the return of the Jurassic World franchise, with this summer’s Jurassic World Rebirth aiming to take the franchise in a new direction. The new movie is taking a page out of the playbooks of both Jaws and the original Jurassic Park rather than more recent Jurassic World movies, with all new characters taking center stage.
Entertainment Weekly introduces this new cast of characters, led by Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennett, in an exclusive preview piece featuring four brand new images from the movie.
Johansson’s Zora is joined by Mahershala Ali’s Duncan and Jonathan Bailey’s Dr. Loomis, with the trio being compared to iconic trio Brody, Quint and Hooper from Jaws.
Entertainment Weekly previews, “The version of Jurassic World Rebirth that exists now — even as [director] Gareth Edwards still has a ways to go to finalize the edit — is closer in spirit to Jaws. Johansson’s Zora is the Brody (Roy Scheider’s character), hunting for a prehistoric creature with Henry as the Hooper figure and Duncan filling the Quint void.”
The other main characters featured in the film are the Delgados, a vacationing family that Zora and her team have to rescue from a dinosaur attack while they’re out on their own mission to secure potentially life-saving dinosaur DNA. Head over to EW to learn more.
From director Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Godzilla) and writer David Koepp (Jurassic Park), Jurassic World Rebirth will stomp into theaters on July 2, 2025.
