Jets recall Brayden Yager from WHL’s Hurricanes

Brayden Yager gets to spend some time with the big club.

The Winnipeg Jets announced Friday that the 20-year-old forward has been recalled from the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Yager’s season with Lethbridge ended Thursday night after the Hurricanes were swept out of the WHL playoffs with a 5–2 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Eastern Conference final.

A native of Saskatoon, Yager began the 2024–25 season with the Moose Jaw Warriors, recording 30 points (11 goals, 19 assists) in 21 games. He was traded to Lethbridge in December and posted 52 points (14 goals, 38 assists) in 33 regular-season games, then added 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 16 playoff contests.

He also represented Canada at the World Juniors, collecting three assists in five games.

Selected 14th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2023 NHL Draft, Yager’s rights were traded to the Winnipeg Jets in August 2024 in exchange for fellow prospect Rutger McGroarty. He had signed his three-year, entry-level contract with Pittsburgh the month prior.
