The golf icon’s mother passed away earlier last week and he has admitted he’s ‘not ready’ to return to the course just yet. In a statement posted on X on Monday, he wrote: “I planned to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready. “I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss. “Thanks to everyone who has reached out. “I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my mom’s passing.” Woods will not be playing at Torrey Pines as he continues to grieve, but he says he may be making an appearance. His decision to withdraw is no major surprise considering the recent death of his mother, who passed away aged 78. He shared the devastating news with a heartbreaking tribute on social media last week. Due to the devastating fires in the area, organisers had to move the event down south to the Torrey Pines course in San Diego. Woods was planning to make his 2025 season debut at the course, but now he’s understandably changed his mind and withdrawn.
