How does startup equity work in terms of trading? [closed]
I'm interviewing at a start-up right now to potentially join them a few months later. I'll ask them this question directly once I'm closer to an offer, but I'd love to know what the industry standard practices are regarding this before I invest too much of my time here. They usually offer some x% of the start-up's total equity vested equally over 4 years. I want to know how the trading of this equity works before the startup goes public. It might be years, even a decade before it IPOs, so this is important. Again, I'm mainly asking about what the industry standard is. Industry: Software/AI
