Here's when Verdansk is returning to Call of Duty Warzone

Verdansk will return to Call of Duty Warzone next week, allowing players to relive the glory days of the ongoing battle royale shooter. Activision has now fully lifted the lid, meaning we know what to expect on April 3, 2025.

It's now been five years since Verdansk first dropped, having arrived alongside the first iteration of Call of Duty Warzone. Since then, it's been removed, with new maps and modes taking its place. Regardless, "Warzone Verdansk" is still considered by many to have been one of the best FPS experiences of all time, so it's no wonder why many fans have been crying out for its return ever since it was taken away.

Here's when Verdansk returns to Call of Duty Warzone. As we get closer to launch, it's likely that we'll hear even more about what Verdansk will play like when it arrives. Activision will also reveal precise timings so that you can jump in as early as possible. Once this happens, this page will be updated.

Activision has now lifted the lid on Verdansk 2025, with an extensive and throughly detailed blog post. There's a heck of a lot to get through, so I've condensed the key points below. You'll also see that the image above features a condensed look at what's being added at launch, and beyond.

  • Back-to-basics gameplay with the latest in fan-favorite mechanics, there’s a wide variety of features returning or incoming to the game.
  • Fine-tuning has been made to bring movement more in line with what players experienced in the early days of Call of Duty: Warzone.
  • 150 player lobbies
  • Original Supply Boxes, Floating Loot, Armor Satchels and Buy Station menus, coupled with current Loadouts and Perks, with High Value Loot Zones across the map where some premium loot resides.
  • In-game loot gets a retro refresh, Thermite is back, while Contracts, In-Match Public Events, Field Upgrades and Killstreaks are back to basics
  • The return of the helicopter, and four ground vehicles all rebalanced to ensure steering and handling keeps to the spirit of the original iteration of the game.
  • Circle Collapse mechanics are just how you remember them from five years ago with Loadout Drops at the second and fifth circles. So-called endgame “dead zones” have been minimized.
  • A variety of quality-of-life updates also hits Call of Duty: Warzone, including Squad Redeploys at Buy Stations, Attachment description at Weapon Inspects, detailed Death recaps in game, and, coming later in the season, a HUD flag so you know exactly when your Loadout is available to buy.
  • POIs will be added over time, like the Train Station metro line

In the Verdansk 2025 reveal trailer, we see various Operators fighting their way across the map. We see a wide shot of the overall map, with iconic POIs (points of interest) like Downtown, Stadium, and Storage Town all in view.

We now know what it'll look like, and it's looking very pretty indeed. In the video below, you'll find a breakdown by Beenox Studios, showcasing the new lighting systems and tech that's gone into recreating Verdansk. There's new lighting, making dark areas easier to move through. Hopefully this'll make Roze players easier to spot (sigh).

There's small tweaks to the landscape as well, including more long grass, low mud and puddles, that'll all react to light in dynamic ways. Perhaps the ghillie suit skins are the way to go at launch?
