Heart Attack Man announce new album ‘Joyride the Pale Horse,’ share 2 songs

Cleveland punks Heart Attack Man have announced a followup to their very good 2023 album Freak of Nature, Joyride the Pale Horse, due April 25 via self-release (pre-order). The album was produced by past collaborator Brett Romnes, drummer of The Movielife and I Am The Avalanche (who’s also done production work for Hot Mulligan, Anxious, Free Throw, and more), and here’s what vocalist Eric Egan says about the LP:

With every song of ours that comes to life, I have a thought in the back of my mind that it could be the last good song we ever write. At the same time, in many ways it feels like we’re just getting started and have only just begun to tell our story. This album is the intersection of pessimism and optimism; firmly between life and death.

Along with the announcement comes two singles, “Laughing Without Smiling” and “Spit” (the former of which also has a Michael Herrick-directed video), which are both bangers and both great examples of Heart Attack Man’s ability to split the difference between Sum 41 and Fugazi. About “Spit,” Eric says, “It gets into A.I. What does A.I. mean for the creative process? Is it the end of human creativity? ‘Spit’ is a tongue-in-cheek sarcastic confrontation. I don’t like the idea of everyone relying on robots more and more. It’s my snarky pushback.” Check out both below.
