Glen Powell & Barry Jenkins Set Sci-Fi “Order”

Glen Powell (“Twisters,” “Anyone But You”) is attached to star and filmmaker Barry Jenkins (“Moonlight,” “Mufasa: The Lion King”) is set to direct “The Natural Order,” a new film which has just landed at Universal Pictures.

The project is based on upcoming novel from “Coco” and “Lightyear” writer Matt Aldrich. Specifics are under wraps, but it is dubbed an elevated sci-fi thriller revolving around the pursuit of eternal life.

Jenkins, Powell and Aldrich reportedly have been developing the film for some time and recently took it to market. Jenkins and Aldrich will be adapting from Aldrich’s unpublished manuscript.

Powell and Dan Cohen will produce under Barnstorm and its first-look deal at Universal. Jewerl Keats Ross, Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak will also produce.

Powell is currently shooting Edgar Wright’s “The Running Man” and is attached to J.J. Abrams’ new project. He has the Hulu series “Chad Powers” and the film “Huntington” both on the way later this yer.

Warner Bros and DC Studios recently greenlit Aldrich’s screenplay for “Dynamic Duo,” an animated theatrical release dealing with Batman’s sidekick Robin.
