Formula E unveils full Evo Sessions line-up

Formula E has locked in the full lineup for Evo Sessions later this week, a world-first event where 11 people from the world of media and entertainment will get behind the wheel of Formula E cars at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

Each involved has been paired with one of Formula E’s race teams and drivers, and have been working with those teams in the build-up to the March 5-6 event, where they will take to the track individually in two 20-minute sessions. Content from the event will be shared on social media in real time, but it won’t be competitive, and no times will be released. The idea is to give outsiders a genuine insight into what it takes to become a top-level racing driver while taking fans along for the experience.

The first name that was confirmed for Evo sessions, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, will be paired with Jaguar TCS Racing and coached by Mitch Evans. Evans’ 2023-24 title rival Pascal Wehrlein will coach former international soccer star Sergio Aguero (main image), who has been placed at TAG Heuer Porsche.

Actress and record-breaking car builder Emelia Hartford has been paired with Maserati MSG Racing, and will receive coaching from Stoffel Vandoorne. The other Stellantis team, DS Penske, will run American creative Vinnie Hacker, who will get coached by Maximillian Guenther who effectively swapped rides with Vandoorne ahead of this season.

Nissan will field automotive content creator Alex Hirschi – otherwise known as Supercar Blondie – with Norman Nato on hand to support her, while customer Nissan squad NEOM McLaren has got technology journalist Cleo Abram, who is working with Sam Bird.

“I’ve driven some of the most incredible cars in the world, but getting behind the wheel of a Formula E GEN3 Evo will be an experience on a whole new level,” said Supercar Blondie. “The pro drivers are incredibly skilled and the cars are beyond fast, so I’m looking forward to learning just what it takes to be a Formula E driver and bring my audience along for the ride. I’ll likely be the slowest Formula E driver ever, but I’ll definitely have fun behind the wheel!”

Porsche customers Andretti and Cupra Kiro will run Content creators Ammar Kandil and JUCA, respectively, with coaching from Jake Dennis and Dan Ticktum, while Harry Potter star Tom Felton will drive for Envision Racing, coached by Sebastien Buemi.

“I’ve grown up loving wheels my entire life. From my dad teaching me to ride a bicycle to putting my first poster up on my bedroom wall of a supercar,” said Felton. “When I learned to drive a car it was the most liberating experience I’ve ever had. Better than a broomstick, even.

“From my dad teaching me to feather a clutch in our 1979 Ford Fiesta which he had taught my three older brothers to drive in, to driving my first sports car.

“Nothing could compare to the excitement I have to actually be seated in the driver’s seat of arguably the most exciting vehicle on four wheels on the planet. I know it needs a fifth wheel to steer and I am beyond thrilled to be given the opportunity to do so. I’ll play it cool on the day obviously but my inner nine-year-old self will be screaming with joy the moment I get even close to the Formula E car – let alone get to actually drive one! It’ll be a pinch myself, dream-come-true moment and I will make the most of every second.”

YouTuber Theo Baker has been paired with Mahindra and Nyck de Vries, while Formula E’s newest factory team Lola Yamaha Abt has enlisted Scott Mansell, better known as Driver61, for the event, with him being paired with Zane Maloney.

Actor Lucien Laviscount was previously announced for Evo Sessions but has since withdrawn after landing a part in a film.

As well as Formula E sharing content from the event in real time on social media, Evo Sessions will be the subject of a feature-length documentary which will be released later this year.
