Florry announce new album ‘Sounds Like…,’ share “Hey Baby”

Florry‘s 2023 album The Holey Bible is one of the more underrated albums within the whole “post-country” thing, so it’s very exciting news that they’ve just announced a new one, Sounds Like…, due May 23 via Dear Life Records (pre-order). For this one, the Philly/Vermont band decamped to Asheville’s Drop of Sun Studios (where Wednesday and MJ Lenderman record), and bandleader Francie Medosch co-produced it with MJ Lenderman’s bandmate Colin Miller.

The first single is “Hey Baby,” which finds Florry sounding as endearingly raw and shambolic as ever. The album announcement cites The Band, The Rolling Stones, Liz Phair, and Silver Jews as reference points (and Francie also says “the Jackass theme song,” aka the Minutemen’s “Corona,” “was actually a really big influence on the new album”), and if you can picture all of that rolled up into a ball of steel wool, you might can idea for how “Hey Baby” sounds. Check out the song and its video (filmed and edited by pedal steel player Jon Cox, also of Sadurn) below.
