Ford CEO Jim Farley will make his return to Mustang Challenge competition this weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, as part of a 20-car entry for Rounds 3 and 4 of the season.
Farley, who was part of the inaugural Mustang Challenge weekend at Mid-Ohio last year, will pilot the No. 17 Competition Motors Ford Mustang Dark Horse R in the pair of races this weekend at the Northern California circuit.
It is the only significant change to the entry list since March’s season-opening races at Sebring International Raceway, aside from the two Creative Auto Sport Mustangs not being present this weekend.
Following a sweep of the weekend at Sebring, Robert Noaker heads into Laguna with a 100-point lead over TechSport’s Devin Anderson, while Alex Bachoura is on top in the Dark Horse Legends class following his impressive runs at Sebring that saw him claim a pair of third place overall finishes.
Laguna Seca will mark the final series event prior to the Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational on June 11-14.
Track action at Laguna kicks off on Friday with a pair of practice sessions prior to qualifying that evening, while Race 1 is scheduled for Saturday at 8:50 a.m. PST. Race 2 takes the green flag Sunday at 8:30 a.m. PST.
Both 45-minute races will be streamed live on Peacock, as well as Ford Performance and IMSA’s YouTube channels.
