Fans call for Triple H to ‘bring Paige home’ to WWE after British star announces AEW departure
Paige could be set for a sensational return to WWE eight years after having to retire from the ring. The woman behind one of the most talked-about performers in the company’s modern history is certainly up for it. Paige was one of the top WWE performers of her generationWWE Few wrestling stars have lived a journey quite like of Saraya-Jade Bevis, known as Paige from her time in WWE. Born into a wrestling family, she shocked the world in 2014 by being crowd Divas Champion on her main roster debut. Multiple title reigns in WWE and later in AEW then followed as she established herself as a major player in the industry. Paige was forced to retire from active competition in WWE back n 2017, owing to a serious neck injury. She departed the company in 2022 after undertaking non-wrestling authority and management roles, signing with AEW where she was cleared for in-ring competition and wrestled under her real name Saraya. But given she wrestled some of WWE’s biggest names, performed at the most prestigious events and even served controversial suspensions while with the company, it stands to reason she may have unfinished business there. On Wednesday, Saraya announced she is now stepping away from AEW after nearly three years. “I’m here to tell you that me and AEW’s relationship has come to an end,” she said on her forthcoming podcast, Rulebreakers With Saraya. “I had an amazing time there. There’s no bad blood between us. I had such a magical time.” Ahead of that announcement, Saraya also released her autobiography, Hell in Boots: Clawing My Way Through Nine Lives, which tells the story of her iconic career. Few fans even knew the star’s name when she won the Divas titleWWE It’s unsurprising, then, that the topic of what would be a wild WWE comeback has surfaced – and many fans are now calling for Triple H to ‘bring her home’. “WWE is always ‘Your House,'” one fan wrote, referencing her catchphrase as they responded to news the 32-year-old has departed AEW. “Final match in WWE – Triple H make it happen,” another said. “Would love to see her back in WWE,” a third added. “Please come home to WWE. So many fresh matches, so many of the NXT women she could face too,” a fourth wrote. Saraya has also previously told the Hall of Fame podcast that she ‘loves’ the company, explaining: “I don’t have any negative feelings towards them. Paige was forced into retirement prior to her WWE departureWWE “They raised me, they saved me a lot. I just appreciate them so much.” The Brit added: “I would absolutely, if there was something that they needed from me, which was exciting, I would definitely go there. That would be silly not to. “If there’s an opportunity to do something fun, hell yeah, I’ll jump on board.” As well as fan support to see Saraya become Paige once more, in fellow Brit Drew McIntyre, the star has another firm supporter in her corner. In review of her new book, McIntyre spoke of his pride at seeing her become a ‘household name’, saying: “From seeing her begin this journey as a teenager in the British wrestling scene to where she is today, I’m so proud to see not just the wrestler, but the woman Raya has become. “I know how hard it is to leave your family and country to chase this impossible dream in big, bad America at such a young age. “Truth is the wrestling is the easy part. It’s homesickness, trying to learn how to be an adult and the setbacks that life throws at you that is the real challenge. “Raya has faced moments that almost broke her and would break any normal person, thankfully she is no normal person.” Drew McIntyre spoke in glowing terms about his fellow BritWWE The book would, McIntyre added, allow readers to “learn how that little nervous girl I first met backstage in Scotland became the woman who is now a household name.” Now, having departed AEW, she could be set to write a new chapter – and whatever Saraya chooses to do, one thing is certain: Wrestling fans will be watching closely.
