Era Motorsport has confirmed that Kakunoshin Ohta will join the team’s LMP2 effort for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship rounds at Sebring and Road America.
As previously reported by Sportscar365, the Honda factory driver looked set to add LMP2 outings to his Michelin Endurance Cup program with Acura Meyer Shank Racing, which saw him make his series debut at last month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, held on March 15, will be Ohta’s first outing with the Kyle Tilley-led squad, sharing the No. 18 Oreca 07 Gibson with Tobias Lutke and David Heinemeier Hansson.
Notably, that will make the Florida endurance classic the first race since the 2020 season that Ryan Dalziel has not been part of its Era’s LMP2 driver lineup.
Ohta, meanwhile, is set to join Era at this week’s IMSA-sanctioned test at Sebring, which will also feature Dalziel.
“I’m happy to announce that I’m going to race with Era Motorsport at Sebring and Road America,” said Ohta.
“Era is a reliable team that has achieved great results every year in the LMP2 class.
“We have been working together since 2024, so our partnership is already strong and I am confident that we can achieve good results.”
The link between Era and Honda Racing Corporation comes through the team’s activities in historic racing, where the two sides work together to operate older cars like the Acura ARX-05 and the ARX-03b.
“The entire team at Era Motorsport are thrilled to welcome Kaku onboard for Sebring and Road America,” said Tilley.
“Both he and HRC have been wonderful to work with, and we are honored to have the opportunity to collaborate on this project.”
