Coventry ended up leapfrogging Bristol City into fifth after beating Middlesbrough, which eliminated them from play-off contention, and a draw proved to be enough for the Robins to keep hold of their spot in the top six and Blackburn and Millwall both failed to win. In League One, three of the four teams had already secured themselves a place in the play-offs, with Leyton Orient and Reading locked level on points heading into the final day for the final spot, though the Berkshire side lost to Barnsley which meant Orient’s win over Huddersfield secured their play-off berth. Charlton leapfrogged Wycombe into fourth place on the final day of the season to secure themselves a home second leg for their tie. There was plenty of drama in League Two on Saturday, with three teams vying for the final automatic promotion spot while four other sides were competing for the last two play-off spots. Bradford’s 96th minute winner to secure automatic promotion succumbed Walsall and Notts County to a play-off spot, while Chesterfield’s win catapulted them ahead of both Salford and Grimsby, neither of whom won, which saw the Derbyshire side join Wimbledon in the top seven.
