dnata Travel announced a new partnership with state-owned Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) today, 1st May.

The signing of the partnership comes well ahead of the peak summer travel season.

The joint initiative builds on this vibrant travel corridor and leverages the Maldives’ strong appeal as a top-selling destination among UAE residents.

Travellers can expect exclusive holiday packages, tailored promotions, and curated experiences across dnata Travel’s digital and retail platforms.

Already in effect, the campaign will run till the end of June 2025.

dnata Travel’s head of retail and leisure in the UAE Meerah Ketait said of the partnership: “The Maldives continues to be one of the most in-demand destinations for UAE travellers, and the momentum is only accelerating as we head into summer. Through this partnership, we’re excited to deliver even more value to our customers, from limited-time offers to insider access, at a time when interest in the destination is surging.”

MMPRC CEO and managing director Ibrahim Shiuree added: “The UAE has consistently been one of our most valuable source markets, and we’re thrilled to strengthen this connection through tailored experiences that showcase the diverse offerings of the beautiful ‘Sunny Side of Life.’ We’re particularly excited to showcase how the Maldives can be reimagined for repeat visitors with unique island-hopping itineraries, authentic cultural exchanges, and conservation-focused activities that create meaningful connections with our environment and communities.”

A perennial favourite

An Indian Ocean archipelago famed for its postcard-perfect scenery, the Maldives has long been a year-round favourite for UAE travellers, with notable surges around Eid holidays, the summer school break, and the September shoulder season.

New data reveals that first-quarter arrivals in the South Asian country are already up 33% compared to the same period last year, according to MMPRC.

Insights from dnata Travel reveal that UAE travellers, particularly families and high-profile guests, consistently prioritise privacy, exclusivity, and luxury.

These preferences are reflected in the Maldives’ signature one-island-one-resort concept.

Maldives tourism authorities are noting a rise in demand from UAE travellers seeking destinations that offer a blend of convenience, luxury, and natural beauty.

With a wide selection of luxury resorts, private island escapes, and marine-focused activities, the country remains a top choice for honeymooners, families, and solo adventurers alike.

Immersive experiences on tap

Beyond its iconic overwater villas, the Maldives offers immersive cultural experiences, sustainability-driven stays, and a vibrant culinary landscape.

With direct flights from the UAE taking just over four hours, it’s an effortlessly accessible option for both spontaneous getaways and longer planned holidays.

On a broader scale, the Maldives recorded a milestone year in 2024, welcoming more than two million tourists, marking a 9.1 percent increase over the previous year’s arrivals, according to the country’s Ministry of Tourism.
