A Honda CR-Z has been caught on camera, crashing at KM14.7 on Jalan Genting Highlands on Sunday, and a recording of the incident was uploaded to TikTok. According to Bentong district police chief Zaiham Mohd Kahar, a 27-year-old male Malaysian lodged a report at the Goh Tong Jaya police station in Hulu Selangor, stating he had lost control of his vehicle.
The statement noted that a 12-second video circulating on TikTok had depicted the same vehicle being driven recklessly before the crash, and that the driver’s actions endangered other road users.
The Bentong traffic enforcement and investigation department has contacted the driver of the vehicle to come forward to provide their statement, and the police have opened an investigation under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, for reckless and dangerous driving. Any parties who have witnessed the incident are requested to come forward to assist in the investigation, the statement added.
Bentong police will continually hold operations to ensure that the location and routes are not used as a racetrack by irresponsible road users, the Bentong district police chief said.
