Chris Eubank Jr given eye-watering fine for egging Conor Benn

Chris Eubank Jr has copped a £100,000 fine for slapping Conor Benn with an egg at their first press conference. Things descended into chaos when Eubank Jr smacked an egg hidden in his coat on the face of his foe during their face-off. Eubank Jr’s cheeky egg stunt has blown a six-figure hole in his walletGetty And the British Boxing Board of Control have inflicted a massive financial punishment against the 35-year-old. “Following a hearing before the Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jnr. was found to be in breach of Regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025,” a statement from the Board read. “As such, the Stewards of the Board fined Chris Eubank Jr the sum of £100,000.” Following the incident, a furious Benn wrote on X: “That’s the only shot you’ll land on me you f****** p****. 2 rounds you are finished @ChrisEubankJr.” Eubank Jr hit back with a cheeky response, as he shared a picture of egg dripping off Benn’s face and captioned it: “Eggcellent.” Eubank Jr’s egg stunt stemmed from the fallout of their doomed first fight. The pair were slated to fight in October 2022 but it was scrapped after Benn tested positive for clomifene just days before the bout. As part of the World Boxing Council’s (WBC) investigation, they found the reason behind Benn having the banned substance in his system was due to excessive egg consumption. Benn was subsequently placed under an on-and-off two-year provisional suspension by the BBBofC, which was briefly lifted in July 2023 by the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP). As a result of the NADP’s decision, Benn was allowed to compete in a pair of fights under a US boxing license. Benn was left fuming as the egg dripped from his faceGetty The Brit took on and beat Rodolfo Orozco and Peter Dobson before the BBBofC won its appeal to have Benn’s suspension reinstated. The NADP subsequently launched another investigation which ultimately cleared Benn for a second time. Benn’s clearance from the NADP paved the way for the grudge match to be booked, as the bitter rivals will throw down on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Benn will move up two weight classes from welterweight (147lbs) to middleweight (160lbs) to face Eubank Jr at his natural home. However, a 170lbs rehydration clause has been inserted into their contracts to level the playing field. Even though the fight is over a month away, the pair nearly came to blows in their latest media commitment on Piers Morgan Uncensored. The pair are just over a month from finally getting the chance to legally throw handsGetty A 40-second teaser for the episode, due to be aired on Friday, shows the pair traded verbal jabs before they had even sat down, with Morgan still getting his make-up done at the time. The trailer later shows the moment when tensions unsurprisingly boiled over, as multiple security guards were forced to step in and keep the pair at an arm’s length.
