Cheltenham Festival 2025 Day 1: Results and winners after dramatic Champion Hurdle

The curtain raiser saw heavy favourite Kopek Des Bordes provide punters with plenty to cheer with victory in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. Jango Baie produced an upset in the Arkle Novices’ Chase, upsetting favourite Majborough in a dramatic finish before Lossiemouth stormed to victory in the Mares’ Hurdle. But the most dramatic race of the day was saved for the Champion Hurdle as 25/1 outsider Golden Ace claimed a surprise victory after heavy favourite Constitution Hill and defending champion State Man both fell. 17/2 Puturhandstogether and 7/2 joint-favourite Haiti Couleurs claimed victory in the last two races of the day.
