Canada’s Taylor Pendrith missed the cut in his title defence at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Saturday near Dallas.
Pendrith, of Richmond Hill, Ont., was 4-under through two rounds, sitting one shot off the cut.
He shot 67 in Thursday’s first round before rain wiped out his Friday tee time. The Canadian returned Saturday morning and shot even-par 71.
Last year’s victory marks the lone first-place finish of Pendrith’s career. Prior to the CJ Cup, he had three missed cuts and three top-10s on the season.
Fellow Canadians Mackenzie Hughes (4-under), Adam Svensson (3-under) and Ben Silverman (1-over) also missed the cut.
Scottie Scheffler holds a massive six-shot lead heading into the third round, sitting at 18-under after rounds of 61 and 63.
Third-round play is expected to begin later Saturday.
