Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that all American vehicles not compliant with the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement will be hit with a 25 percent tariff.
This is in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs.
From ABC News:
"All the money raised from these counter tariffs will go directly to workers affected by the American tariffs," [Carney] said during a news conference Thursday.
Carney said Trump's tariffs will severely damage the global economy and he also pledged to support his country's citizens.
More from ABC:
"While this is a tragedy, it is also the new reality. We must respond with both purpose and force. We are a free, sovereign, and ambitious country. We are masters in our own homes," he said.
This is just the beginning, folks.
