A couple of key release date announcements today.
First up, following its massive success, “Sinners” is coming back to some IMAX screens with select IMAX 70mm screenings in North America cinemas from May 15th-21st. The full list of participating locations is up at X.
Yorgos Lanthimos’ anticipated “Bugonia,” an English-language remake of 2003’s “Save the Green Planet,” has been set for a limited rollout in NY and LA on October 24th followed by a wide release a week later. Bugonia sees two conspiracy-obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO (Emma Stone) of a major company, convinced she is an alien intent on destroying Planet Earth. Jesse Plemons and Alicia Silverstone co-star.
Amazon MGM Studios has set a February 13th 2026 release date for Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry-led heist movie “Crime 101” which will kick off the long Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day weekend. Bart Layton helms the film based on author Don Winslow’s novella of the same name about a detective attempting to solve a string of multimillion-dollar jewel heists along the Pacific Coast.
Neon has announced the Dakota Johnson-led “Splitsville” is getting an August 22nd theatrical release. The story follows a wife named Ashley who asks for a divorce. Her good-natured husband Carey runs to his friends, Julie and Paul, for support. Their secret to happiness is an open marriage; that is, until Carey crosses the line and throws all of their relationships into chaos.
Finally, Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate have acquired the Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney-led comedic drama “Twinless” which was a major smash hit at Sundance earlier this year. That title will release in cinemas on September 5th and follows two friends who meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an unlikely bond.
