The spare on his record that goes back to a sixth-round stoppage win in 2014 in Moscow came in his most recent outing when losing a points decision to Beterbiev. It was a fantastic bout, and many experts believed Bivol did enough to win, but he was denied by the closest of margins following a majority decision.

The scorecards in Saudi Arabia four months ago read 115-113 and 116-112 to Beterbiev, with the final card scoring it a level 114-114 draw. Dmitrii spoke of his frustration at the result in his post-fight press conference and has maintained he believed he should’ve won in the build-up to the rematch. Bivol is a talented boxer with an outstanding ring IQ, excellent experience, and a style that leaves most opponents chasing shadows.
