All 4 'Scream' Movies of the 21st Century, Ranked

Screamhas become one of the most influential horror franchises of all-time, despite the fact that it has existed for a much shorter period of time compared to other iconic sagas such as Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. While Wes Craven’s first attempt to make a self-aware horror film, New Nightmare, didn’t become a cultural sensation, he found his calling with the script for Kevin Williamson’s teen horror film Scream, which incorporated elements of noir mysteries and teen comedies. Scream was an interesting series because of its meta qualities, as the characters all had a knowledge of horror movie cliches that they had gathered from watching the same movies that the audience may have grown up loving. Despite the fact that the films are highly satirical, Scream was certainly not lacking in scares, and created one of the all-time greatest “final girls” in horror film history with Neve Campbell’s amazing performance as Sidney Prescott.
