Though it’s not always fair to do so, certain filmmakers can be generalized to some extent when it comes to the genres they tend to explore. Wes Anderson typically makes dramedies, Martin Scorsese is best known for his crime movies, and John Carpenter is often tied to the sci-fi and horror genres. Again, that’s generalizing, but such claims aren’t too outrageous. But then there are also filmmakers like Ang Lee who are much harder to pin down. He’s done a comic book movie (Hulk), romantic dramedies (like The Wedding Banquet and Eat Drink Man Woman), and was also behind whatever the hell Gemini Man was.
