‘Absolute menace’ – Fans horrified as WWE champion appears to threaten young child on Netflix before Pat McAfee show-down
Wrestling’s resident villain is at it again after Gunther once more had heads turned with his actions live on Raw on Netflix. A week ago, the reigning world heavyweight champion bagged a ton of headlines after inadvertently nailing a fan in the front row during an episode of the red brand show. There was yet more drama on Raw with Gunther and Pat McAfeeWWE In trying to toss his jacket in the face of Pat McAfee at ringside, Gunther didn’t bank on the former NFL star’s reactions – he ducked, and his jacket caught a fan flush in the face leaving those around them concerned. On this week’s Raw from North Carolina, the Ring General was at it again, this time aiming a jab, albeit a verbal one, in the direction of a young child as he made his way to the ring. Gunther is due to tangle with hot fan favourite Jey Uso at WrestleMania in the Spring and, in readiness, took himself to the stands in the area to copy his rival’s famed entrance which involves him mixing with fans in the concourse before ‘Yeeting’ all the way to the ring. The ever-serious Austrian was typically scalding as he mocked Uso and the live crowd during his version of the entrance, saying: “Jey Uso does his entrance from up here so tonight I want to feel what the Yeet is all about.” Entering the arena section, he bellowed at the crowd: “Come on, guys, do it with me, I want to feel it!” before being greeted by a chorus of boos. Claiming him performing to fans was like ‘reading Shakespeare to a dog’, the star continued to stride down steps, before finding his path slightly blocked by a young fan dressed in an Uso shirt and a John Cena cap. Without missing a beat Gunther, towering over the child, hissed: “Will you step aside little man, before something happens!” He continued on his route to the squared circle and eventually ended up in a stare-down with McAfee, accusing the footballer turned broadcaster of running his mouth about his chances at WrestleMania. McAfee ended up with a microphone thrust into his chest before Uso arrived to ensure things didn’t turn physical, eventually thwarting Gunther as the two engaged in yet another brawl ahead of their landmark match. Understandably, though, it was the trademark villainy of a thinly veiled threat towards a child that was most talked about on social media, one fan saying: “Gunther threatening a little kid was fantastic heel stuff.” The top WWE villain had no qualms about giving a bit to a child on RawWWE/Netflix The fan was oblivious to the comment as a brooding Gunther made his way to the ringWWE/Netflix Grayson Waller later playfully shoved a kid several times before pretending to be rattledWWE/Netflix One fan blasted Gunther as a ‘menace’ while another added: “Gunther is always about roasting the children, last week he almost took one out throwing his shirt…” A third said: “Gunther’s on a whole different level—he’s making these kids rethink their life choices.” Gunther’s verbals with the youngster didn’t even prove to be the final act of its kind on the night, either.
