“A Quiet Place 3” Is Still In The Works

A third mainline entry in the “A Quiet Place” film franchise is still in the works, despite delays to the original plan. Following a $48 million opening weekend for the John Krasinski-directed “A Quiet Place: Part II” back in 2021, Paramount initially set a March 31st 2023 release date for a third entry in the franchise.

By early 2022, plans shifted so that a prequel spin-off dubbed ‘Day One’ would come first followed by a third movie in 2025. The Michael Sarnoski-directed ‘Day One’ released last year to positive reviews and a $52 million opening weekend, indicating the franchise had plenty of life left to it.

However there is still no sign of the third mainline film and a year ago the movie was pulled from the release schedule with no new date set. Speaking with The Direct at SXSW, franchise producer Brad Fuller was asked about the status of the film and he says it’s still happening.

The main issue holding it back? Krasinski is in such demand it’s hard to get a hold of him:

“So, ‘Day One’ is not ‘A Quiet Place 3,’ just to be clear… ‘A Quiet Place 3,’ we’re starting to put it together right now. You know, when we made the first one, John [Krasinski] didn’t have a lot on his plate. He had just come off ‘The Office,’ and he wanted to be a director.

Now, he’s so in demand, and it’s hard to get him… He’s making a movie now, so as soon as he finishes that, hopefully, he will turn his attention to [‘A Quiet Place 3’]. We all want to finish that trilogy, and I’m hopeful there’s even more ‘Quiet Place’ movies beyond that.”

Krasinski is currently in production on the film based on his Amazon Prime Video series “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”. Krasinski’s real-life partner Emily Blunt stars in the films and previously indicated she wouldn’t return if it was a director other than Krasinski.
